CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS

"All I want for Christmas is my two front teeth"... or so went the song back around 1956.

Christmas can be the loneliest time of the year for those who are the last of their "tribe" or who have family in far away places.

Our lives are so busy, we neglect the time honoured Christmas Card and for the elderly, the internet and Facebook are another challenge and pressure.   Why not pop into our shop and see if there isn't something you would like to send an elderly friend.

All the best wishes to you and your loved ones for a Happy and Safe Christmas and a New Year full of peace and exciting prospects.

Margaret Clark Illustrator is remembered in THE MAGIC BALLOON

Federation Fairies was formed to promote the fantasy world of Margaret Clark - a special retreat for children from this very adult world.

Our book THE MAGIC BALLOON  is available from our website.
www.federationfairies.com.au

This lovely book is available online.  It is the work of two generations.  Margaret Clark 1901-2001 provided us with the loveliest illustrations and her great niece wrote the story.

We have received lovely reviews and I am sure all those who purchase a book will be delighted with the story of Arabella a little girl who moves to the country and her great adventure.

WHAT HAS MAY GIBBS IN COMMON WITH MARGARET CLARK?

Margaret Clark was truly a great Australian Illustrator.   Her contemporaries were the likes of Ida Outhwaite Rentoul  and May Gibbs.   The programme of first exhibition in 1924 was a who's who of the Sydney Art Scene.   The 1926 exhibition was a sell out success and we are frequently contacted by owners of some really great examples of the genius of Margaret Clark.

Federation Fairies was formed to preserve as many of the illustrations as possible for generations to come.

Our Facebook Page   Federation Fairies - Margaret Clark   has been visited by many people who appreciate the bygone era of innocence and beauty.

You may like to see 30 examples which are now available as Limited Edition Prints    www.federationfairies.com.au/

ENJOY  and   SHARE

Kindest Regards

Looking for the Family?

We are looking for any relatives of Kate Nicholson who went to Canada with her family possibly prior to 1900.  Kate was a Clark and a relative of Margaret Clark.

Also any relatives of Lucy Wigginton or George Edwin Rowell who left Peterborough in 1882 to come to Australia.

I believe that Lucy Wigginton seated in the middle surrounded by her 7 daughters was a Tibbet prior to marriage and that her father may have been a tea merchant in Peterborough.

MARGARET CLARK ILLUSTRATOR 1901-2001

Federation Fairies was formed on the anniversary of Margaret Clark's birthday 2 years ago.  Our mission is to promote the memory of an amazingly talented Australian who was born in 1901 around the time of Australia's federation. Her work brought beauty into the lives of many.  Federation Fairies acquires works with the sole purpose of preservation and sharing our Aunt's work with the rest of the world. It has been hidden far too long!

She has produced over 100 of these lovely illustrations - we plan to showcase as many as possible in a book as a tribute to this remarkable lady.

[Margaret pictured here on her 99th Birthday]

The Mitchell Library received 10 illustrations by Margaret Clark from the National Trust.
All her works, due to the age, require restoration.  Art Restoration is a very expensive process.
Federation Fairies is preserving these images digitally and releasing Limited Edition Prints of 30 of
these rare and lovely illustrations to ensure the restoration work will be carried out. Future generations will
be grateful to those who appreciate the talent of a great Australian.

Please visit our website:   www.federationfairies.com.au

The Artworks in Canberra have been invaluable in their assistance with our project.
